Terrace Garden - An Experience
As a farmer's boy I enjoyed farming. Now retired. To keep myself engaged in farming I cultivated many crops on my building terrace in Pune. First erected floating structure of 175 sq.ft. The capital cost came to Rs 29,500/-.
Seeds, Bioagents, chemical fertilisers and insecticide of Rs 1400/-
The crops grown are : Okra, Guar, methi, gurard (bitter guard, bottle guard, watermelon, sponge, ridge guard), French Beans, tuborosum.
Seedlings nursery of tomato and eggplant.
Tree plants are citrus, custard Apple, kadipatta.
Flower plants are tuborosum, crysanthemum, jasmin, mogra.
Others includes sugarcane, lemon grass, betelvine.
I think for me it is the cultivating the culture of agri-culture with my 3 year old granddaughter who harvested first okra crop of 300 grams.
